Mountain bikers are able to enjoy day-long tours, while those who prefer a more leisurely cycle ride often join the combined biking and camping tours, which can last for anything between two and 12 days. Andean mountain trekking to the Huaytapallana lake and glacier is for those tourists with plenty of stamina and a good level of fitness, and this expedition usually takes around three days, being organised by Incas del Peru.

Located on the north-eastern side of the city and along the Avenida Giraldez, the Cerro de la Libertad has become a very notable recreational attraction for both locals and tourists alike. From the Cerro de la Libertad, the Torre Torre formations are just 2 km / 1.5 miles away.

Huancayo Tourist Attractions: Local Parks and Parklands

There are a number of prominent public parklands spread all around the city of Huancayo, offering important open and recreational spaces. On the north-easterly side of the city and within the suburb of San Antonio, the popular Parque de la Identidad Huanca (Parque de la Identidad Wanka) is completely constructed of stone, with unusual artistic designs, miniature buildings, statues and further attractions providing an intriguing insight into the Huanca (Wanka) culture. Other appealing parks include the centrally located Parque Huamanmarca, which marks the spot where the city was founded in 1572, and also the Parque de la Constitucion, which was formerly known as the 'Plaza Pardo' until being renamed to its present title in 1813.

The High Train remains especially famous in Peru and offers a truly spectacular way to travel between Lima and Huancayo, passing many extremely scenic and wonderful attractions en route and lasting roughly 12 hours.
