Huancayo Museums and Huancayo Art Galleries
(Huancayo, Junin, Peru, PE
There really are only a handful of museums to speak of within Huancayo, simply adding to the attractions already on offer. The Museo Salesiano is the main museum to speak of and celebrates various aspects of Peruvian flora and fauna.
Those who have visited the Museo Salesiano should then head in a north-easterly direction, along the Avenida Giraldez, where the panoramas of Huancayo are very special. Also in Huancayo is the art gallery of Wali Wasi, and various art stalls dotted around the Cerrito de la Libertad, although for the very best in museums and art galleries, you really will need to pay a visit to nearby Lima.
Huancayo Museums and Art Galleries: Museo Salesiano (Museo Salesiano de Historia Natural y Arqueologia Padre Vicente Rasetto)
Address: Jiron Arequipa 105, Huancayo, Peru, PE
Tel: +51 064 24 7763
The Museo Salesiano is located alongside the Salesian School and is home to a selection of ceramics and archaeological artefacts from around Peru's Amazon area. Following its relatively recent upgrade, this has become a particularly organised and well laid out museum, with exhibits relating to Peru's rich cultural and natural history. Always a firm favourite are the realistic dioramas, which display a selection of native wildlife.

The Wali Wasi is an interesting gallery and resides within the suburbs on Huancayo, in the area known as the Distrito de Umuto.
